Broken Bow Lake — what's actually near the cabin
Broken Bow Lake is a 14,000-acre reservoir just south of the cabin. It's deep, cold, and largely surrounded by pine forest — it looks more like a mountain lake than a typical Oklahoma reservoir. The marina, boat ramps, and popular swimming coves are 10-15 minutes from Creekside Ranch.

- Beavers Bend Marina (main lake marina, boat rentals): 15 minutes
- Broken Bow Lake dam & spillway: 12 minutes
- Stevens Gap boat ramp: 15 minutes
- Carson Creek public swimming area: 20 minutes

What you can do on the lake
- Boat rental: the Beavers Bend Marina rents pontoons, fishing boats, kayaks, and SUPs. Book ahead in summer.
- Fishing: bass (largemouth + smallmouth), catfish, crappie, and stocked trout below the dam on the Mountain Fork.
- Swimming:the lake is cold even in July — most guests prefer the Mountain Fork River's shallow sections for kid-friendly swimming.
- Scenic drives: the lake loop road (Stevens Gap) is a good easy-morning drive with multiple overlook stops.
